I have downloaded and installed the program x12a_install.exe. But when I
do select a variable in the gretl main window, pull down the Variable
menu, select "X-12-ARIMA analysis" and choose to saving the seasonally

If the first part of the message above is accurate, then the path
to gnuplot is wrong: there's a space in "\ wnuplot.exe" that
shouldn't be there. You can remove this under Tools, Preferences,
General, Programs.
If that is not the problem, could you please send the data set
you're using and a note of the variable you're analysing?
I just tried using the supplied data file Ramanathan/data9-7,
doing an X-12-ARIMA analysis of the variable QNC (this was on
Windows XP in Spanish) and I didn't find any problem.
