Allin,
You were right! Running -make pdfdocs- did do the trick. I am now the proud
owner of a copy of -gretl- 2015e-git. Thanks for your help and your
patience, before it nearly ran out.
Perhaps the final steps that worked could be incorporated into the gretl
git basics page:
sudo rm -rf gretl-git
git clone
git://git.code.sf.net/p/gretl/git gretl-git
cd gretl-git
./configure --enable-quiet-build --enable-openmp --enable-build-doc
make
make pdfdocs
make pdfdocs # again, if necessary
cli/gretlcli -v
sudo make install
sudo /sbin/ldconfig
gretl &
I don't know if there needs to be a build-dependencies step in there, but
at least this will prevent others from going through the rubbish I've just
had to go through in order to get the finished product.
Thanks once again to you Allin, Oleh, Helio and Jack for your sterling help.
Yours,
Clive

The warnings below do not look fatal. Try running "make pdfdocs" again.
(I'm not sure where that "rerunfilecheck" business is coming from, but it
may be generating an error where there shouldn't be one, hence causing
"make" to quit early).
