Hi Sven
Gretl 2024d was installed in late December. Laptop setup is:
Windows 11 pro. New Lenovo 17"laptop with i7 chip 16gb ram, 500gb ssd so
no issues rehandling Gretl.
Strange that other upgraded or new late 2024 Downloadable Function packages
all installed perfectly and attached in the GUI.
I think it is probably best as you suggest to remove Gretl 2024d and
reinstall it. I'll try the double return hit for data entry too.
Thanks
Brian

I seem to be experiencing crashouts of gGretl when adding a new variable
or revising existing data.
After entering an observation and pressing return, the cursor moves to the
next observation cell. However on typing in the next observation, nothing
appears in the cell and Gretl crashes out. This should not happen and is
extremely frustrating. I have never experienced this on earlier versions
(current version 2024d).
Brian, I'm guessing you're using gretl 2024d on Windows, and I have the
same setup here. I cannot replicate your crashes. I'm wondering whether you
should perhaps explicitly uninstall gretl and re-install it, but perhaps
you have already done that.
The only work around solution is to physically the select the next cell by
clicking on it, and entering the observation data. Harly a streamlined
input process.
Well, there's another solution, namely to hit Return twice: once to move
to the next cell, a second time to activate editing in that cell. I agree
it's not obvious why one would have to do that, but I guess it's better
than to reach for the mouse.
Please check.
Given the problem I have had loading k-means clustering package (still not
solved) , I am wondering if I shoudld simply redownload an earlier version
that 2024d?
Again, since that was another problem I couldn't replicate and we haven't
heard of problems from other people, the only general idea right now is to
reinstall. If it persists, then it would be more mysterious. Is this on
Windows 10?
cheers
sven
