What you're seeing on the x-axis is years and fractions of years:
accurate, but ugly. This is an issue only for dated time series
of greater than quarterly frequency. We have special handling for
dated daily data to avoid printing this sort of thing; we forgot
to apply it to dated weekly data. That is now fixed in CVS and
the Windows snapshot of gretl.
