You can put them in the same directory as the supplied doc files, gretl-guide.pdf and gretl-ref.pdf. Where this is depends on the platform and (on Windows) also on the locale, but typical values include: Linux: /usr/share/gretl/doc or (per-user) $HOME/.gretl/doc Windows: "/Program Files/gretl/doc" or (per-user) /Users/<username>/AppData/Roaming/gretl
