Allin,
I have installed the snapshot version for Win32
(
http://ricardo.ecn.wfu.edu/pub/gretl/gretl_install.exe). I tried it
out on Windows XP home and the new "documentation feature" works fine
for me. This is indeed the kind of solution I had in mind.
Best wishes,
jean

Yes, this is sensible. I have implemented something of this sort in
CVS. There's a new tab in the gretl Preferences dialog for the
version of the PDF manuals a user prefers to see. If a user has not
stated any preference yet, and clicks on a menu item or icon that
calls for a PDF manual file, that Preferences tab is presented.
I plan to distribute the US English PDF files with gretl. If a user
selects a different version, it will be downloaded and installed,
and then taken to be the default version until any further change
is made under Preferences.
