Yes, that's probably better -- and the same for lists, I guess.
Well, there's a slight difference: existing lists can also be edited
from the function package GUI, so changing that to "new" would be
misleading IMHO. But for matrices editing is not possible there. So
either the buttons would get different names, or maybe you want to
enable editing existing matrices from the function package GUI as well?
(I don't really have a preference here.)
