Each contributed function package can specify a location in the menus
where it wants to attach itself. Whether it is actually entering the
menus is a decision of the user, gretl asks about this when the package
is installed.
So AFAICS your suggestion basically applies to the built-in omit --auto
option which currently has no menu equivalent I think (anybody correct
me if I'm wrong). This would most naturally go into the menus of the
model window, not of the main window.
