Yes, github copilot (I use it within the vscode IDE) can be quite
impressive. Especially for creating documentations for or explaining
functions.
I also made good experience with youchat from
you.com. Haven't tried
google's new model gemini so far, however.
You may be interested in my paper I wrote in autumn and which I
presented at the Gretl conference last year:

It includes some examples of what already can be done with LLMs for
coding with Gretl and Hansl.
