OK, here is a test file with the troubled data with only the
hprice and inc variables. In my current gretl, it will read the
data as string-valued series, and a freq on hprice will crash my
gretl.
Thanks, Fred. This is a nastily broken xlsx file. Looking inside it,
I see that some of the hprice values are marked as numeric, but lots
of cells that clearly ought to be numeric are explicitly marked as
strings (including one, presumably missing, value whose string
consists of 32 space characters).
However, in git we make an attempt to repair it. That'll be in
snapshots before long.
