In the TeX/LaTeX menu, what are you selecting: View, Copy, Save?
View
You can see what Gretl regards as your working directory by going to the menu File,
Working Directory.
OK. gretlpre.tex file was into my working directory
According to the manual, if Gretl can't find a gretlpre.tex in your working directory
it will use a default.
