The Gretl was working fine until I attempted to instal the new

I'm not sure what's going wrong here, but here are a few thoughts.
* Just in case there's any doubt: since you have an Intel-powered Mac
you need the macos-intel gretl package (not the macos-arm64 one).
* If you see anything at /Applications/Gretl in the Finder, delete it,
since it could be getting in the way of the installer.
* Try re-downloading the package to be sure the installer is not
corrupted. For example, for the current release you can get
http://users.wfu.edu/cottrell/gretl/gretl-macos-intel.pkg
* Go to System Settings (which replaces System Preferences on
Ventura), the Privacy and Security item, and take a look for any
setting that might be blocking the gretl installer.
Question for others: Can any Mac users comment on installing gretl on
Ventura?

New subject: Installation failed
This is about a reported failure of installation of the gretl package
on macOS Ventura.
I have a further suggestion. Try starting the Installer app. If it's
not obvious how to find it, I believe it can be located at
/System/Library/CoreServices/Installer.app/Contents/MacOS/Installer
If you can get this app to open, I believe it should have a "Window"
menu with an item titled "Installer Log". Hopefully that will give
some information that's relevant for troubleshooting.

Yes, I followed the following link

and when I opened it, I can see the follwoing message

I've followed your ideas step by step, but no luck so far.
I even restarted and shut down my Mac several times, but the same message as in my
previous screen shot appeared: "The installation failed." For assistance,
contact the software manufacturer."
