Dear listers, greetings from Paris !
Sorry for this rather mundane request but I have a problem with the
output from gretl in win xp.
In the first place I used gretl 1.5 in scrolling output mode. I then
updated to 1.6 and started to use the windowed output after
(involunteerly?) switching. however, I wonder how to switch back to
scrolling because, when i save a session gretl no longer create an
output text file.
I didn't find about that in the new documentation. So I wonder if the
scrolling feature is available any longer ?
I'm very sorry, I have no idea of what the difference between scrolling mode
and window mode is. Is this something windows-specific? Just in case, I'll
shoot a wild guess.
You have two apps that come with gretl, the command-line client and the
graphical client. I'm assuming that, like most windows users, you're using the
graphical client. There are basically 3 ways to use the program:
1) via the menus: in this case, when you issue a command, a new window opens
with the results.
2) via a script: when you run the script, a new window opens after completion
with the results.
3) through the console: this is most similar to the command-line interface.
Basically, you open a command window, you type in commands as you would in a
script and results are displayed in that same window.
I may be wrong, but it sounds like you want to use (3): it's under
"Outils->Console gretl" in the french version.
We are a few to use gretl in my lab, and I saw some typos in French,
if
you like we may contribute to propose some corrections.
Please do!
Thanx a lot and continue the good job !
Thank you
