The commit worked with the old key, so I don't think regenerating is
necessary.
Btw, the link from gretl's homepage to cvs needs to be updated
accordingly. (The one from the project page is already current.)

ok to edit .po files offline now?
by Sven Schreiber
This is a translator's question to Allin and Jack, not about use of
gretl: is it ok now and/or in the next few days to edit the .po files
offline? Or is it likely that other changes will happen in the meantime
that would cause a mess together afterwards?
Thanks,
Sven

Of course not. Sorry.

strange histogram behavior
by Sven Schreiber
Dear list(eners),
I'm not sure (yet), but there might be a bug in the histogram
calculation and / or display in gretl 1.5.1. (This is on a German
windows xp.)
If you have the time, look at variable "Dax" (students' forecast of a
German share index) in the attached datafile: the supposed histogram
looks more like a mixture of a real histogram (displaying empirical
density for some chosen bins) and a bar graph (displaying relative
frequency of values).
Or is my observation due to some inadvertent user setting? Also, it
seems to me that when I used that data last semester (with gretl 1.4 or
1.5.0), this didn't happen (although I don't remember exactly and could
be wrong).
Thanks for clarification,
Sven

Random and fixed effect estimations
by Florent Bresson
I read the user's guide and it mentions the fixed and
random effects estimators, but I can't find the
command to perform this kind of estimations. Are they
implemented ?
Thanks

Gretl on Mac OS
by Juan Montoro
Finally I solved the problem. Instead of using the binary
distribution I compiled it following the instructions. Now everything
seems to work fine.

gnuplot works nicely. I have no problem executing it.

Gretl and Mac OS
by JUAN
First of all sorry if this has been already solved but although I
found a couple of messages dealing with the same issue in the
archives, I have not found an answer.
The fact is that I'm running Gretl 1.5.1 on Mac OS X (by using the
script gretl.sh in the bin folder) but I cannot make plots. When I
try to, the following message pops up
====
yld: Library not loaded: /System/Library/Frameworks/
ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/ImageIO.framework/
Versions/A/Resources/libPng.dylib
Referenced from: /System/Library/Frameworks/
ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/ImageIO.framework/
Versions/A/ImageIO
Reason: Incompatible library version: ImageIO requires version
1.0.0 or later, but libPng.dylib provides version 0.1.2
====
I wonder if anyone could give a hint about the underlying problem.
Thanks

Some Questions
by Talha Yalta
Hi:
I was wondering about three things:
1- Is there an easy way to conduct analysis of variance in GRETL?
There is the "differences of means"->"asuming equal variances" test in
the data menu but it only accepts 2 variables. I don't see any menu
item for ANOVA.
2- Secondly, I was wondering how many subscribers there are for this
Gretl-users mailing list. That would be a good way to have an idea
about the number of people actively involved in this project.
3- Finally, is there a planned release date for the next version of
the program? Should we expect to see it soon?
Sincerely,
ATY

I'm here, but I mostly lurk. I use Gretl for scientific analysis in
the chemical industry--certainly not what it was designed for, but the
best tool out there.
