Please search your system for files named "gretlpre.tex" and
delete them all. The defaults that are built into gretl should
work correctly...
I don't want to state this sort of thing without back-up. I have
just checked on OS X 10.4.11 and I can confirm that with a basic
TeXlive installation gretl's LaTeX view apparatus works OK in the
absence of a user-defined gretlpre.tex.
