You can use this menu command: File -> Open Data -> Import -> ASCII
The first two variables will be encoded numerically (gretl will save
the mapping between numerical codes and literal values in a file).
This has reminded me of a question: when I use this command (I'm running 1.5.0
on my Debian Linux system) the selection window opened by gretl only shows files
with extension ".txt"; I would like to browse all files, but I still
haven't
found how to do it.
