Sometimes I also see some Gtk-WARNING messages in the terminal, I wonder
whether it's just noise or whether they might point to some things that
could be improved in gretl's source. (I know, this is a very vague
statement.)
I've seen some grumbling on stderr too. I don't think it's anything
to do with gretl specifically -- looks more like internal GDK
chatter indicating an imperfect mapping from the regular X11 backend
to the broadway one; nonetheless, the broadway one works pretty
nicely.
One thing I haven't tried but I'd be very surprised if it worked:
launching gnuplot (in its own right) or R (interactive) from within
gretl-on-broadway.
