In response to your post about very big files, let me give some
details about datafile sizes (and my apologize for the late
answer).
Currently, the data file I used to have problems with is split
into two parts whose respective sizes are :
5816 ko for the main .gtd part
and
8389 ko for the gtd~ part.
Isn't the "gtd~ part" a backup created by gretl? That's the
naming gretl uses for backups.
when I open it into gretl he says he reads 7745 ko.
and when I save it, gretl says he is saving 40334 ko of data.
Depending on the context, gretl gives the compressed size, or the
actual number of bytes of data, uncompressed.
