Linux Mint 17.3 MATE, -gretl- 2016c-git I've noticed over the last several versions of -gretl- that I can no longer activate the drop-down menus in the results output window. I can fix it by clicking on the 'Windows' menu and then selecting 'Arrange', which sends all the windows to the north-west of my screen, but this is a bug, isn't it? Once this is fixed, I want to film a new tutorial soon to post onto YT, but none of the screencasting tools I've experimented with (including Vokoscreen) works satisfactorily. 1. Open a built-in data file, e.g. data 4-10 from Ramanathan.

2. Go to the model menu and Estimate a model (e.g. OLS with ENROLL as dependent, CATHOL, PUPIL and WHITE as independent).

3. The model output window appears. I move the mouse pointer into that window, and click on (say) "Analysis": the Analysis menu drops down.

If step 3 is not working for you, that's probably because the model window is not acquiring "focus" when you move the mouse pointer into it. That's a matter of Desktop policy (not gretl policy). Depending on Desktop options you might have to click on the model window to give it focus. Or is this not what you're talking about?

Anyway, this appears to be a MATE or Mint or Compiz bug. Apparently what's happening is that the menu is indeed "dropping down", but _behind_ its parent window, so you can't see it. That's obviously pathological, but it's not a gretl bug, it's a bug somewhere in your stack of Desktop, window manager, compositor. So please take the bug report there -- and you might try being a little nicer about it if you want a helpful response.
