chow test underflow (?) bug

Hi again,
running a regression that includes a shift dummy for 1989q3 and then
doing a Chow test for that exact date gretl omits its own split dummy
due to collinearity (ok, of course) and yields:
a test statistic F(0,148) = 1.#INF,
which is still not so problematic, but then:
a p-value of P(F(0,148)> 1.#INF) = 1.79769e+308
with a positive exponent and that is clearly wrong. I guess NA would be
more appropriate.

function namespace bug

Hi,
here's the recipe for a function namespace-related bug:
1. open (start to execute) the function package BreitungCandelonTest.gfn
(I did it locally, but I guess the same should happen when opened from
the package server)
2. don't really execute the package, but cancel the package dialog (I
think this is not crucial, but I'm describing exactly what I did) --
note that inside the package there is a helper function 'BCtest_fromto()'
3. have a script named 'func2include_file.inp' in the current working
dir with the following contents (a new definition of the function
BCtest_fromto()):
<script>
function void BCtest_fromto(void)
print "hello, this is the alternative BCtest_fromto function"
end function
</script>
4. also have the following script file:
<script>
include func2include_file.inp
BCtest_fromto()
</script>
5. get an error like 'symbol BCtest_fromto() unknown' or so
Since the function definition in the package isn't declared "public" I
would expect the new function definition to work normally. Or I would
expect an error when the new function *definition* is encountered, not
at the later stage when that function is called.
Needless (?) to say, the scripts alone run fine without the clash with
the package. (Tested after restarting gretl.)

jmulti data export bug

exporting data to a jmulti .dat file seems to mess up the variable
description in the exported file. (Haven't tried other export formats.)

Goodness of Fit test to normal distribution and QQ plot

Hello.
1. Can GRETL test whether a given sample is normally distributed?
2. I haven't found a Q-Q plot test in GRETL, (like in SAS e.g.). I think it
would be a good thing to add it.
3. Is there a portable version of GRETL?

Ivan,
I've just downloaded the gretl_help.pot file and create a
gretl_help_pt_BR.po file (using Poedit software). But I'm not sure about
this process (I'm not a computer expert ;).
So, I would like kindly to request you to take a look at the file just to
verify if I did the right thing. Is it possible?

filenames with dots

Hi,
a very minor issue:
even if 'myfilenamewith.dots.inp' exists (and is in the right
place/dir), the command
include myfilenamewith.dots
fails, apparently because gretl interprets .dots as a filename extension.
('include myfilenamewith.dots.inp' works as expected)

window arrangements

Hi,
first of all, as always many thanks to Allin and Jack for the new
release! Gretl continues to get better and better at what I still
consider to be a remarkable pace.
One interface-related example of that is the text-area-splitting in some
windows that was recently introduced. It got me thinking about some
aspects of gretl's general interface -- sometimes I have too many gretl
windows floating around for my taste. It gets confusing and switching to
the one I want sometimes takes a while because I have to flip through so
many others.
So I would like to suggest to somehow consolidate the various windows a
little in order to reduce the number of open windows.
For example, what about integrating the script output window into the
respective script window itself? In the upper part you might have the
script, and in the lower part the output.
In the same spirit, I think the session view window could be integrated
into the main window, side by side.
I used to think that such GUI reforms are very difficult to program, but
as I said, the recent window-splitting additions inspired some hope. But
of course these are just general thoughts and in a sense that would be a
luxury, not really a necessity.
