Anyway, you're right, it's not that easy! GTK2 packed all its
default
icons with it, GTK3 does not; you'd have to install a gnome icon theme
to get anything but "missing icons" to appear. If you'd like to
experiment, and report back on whether you're able to get a "more
modern" appearance with GTK3, that would be great. But -- I'm sorry to
say -- do not expect it to be easy.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm not going to try this seriously before the
summmer is over, but one question already: When you say "install a
theme", do you mean shipping additional relevant dll's along with the
gretl executable? Or would it have to be done first on the target machine?
