* What sort of LaTeX installation do you have?
* What values have you set under gretl's Preferences? That is,
under:
/Tools/Preferences/General/Programs/Command to compile TeX files
If the appropriate executable is not in the PATH on your system,
you will have to specify the full path under that Preferences
entry, for example (on Windows):
c:\somewhere\not\in\path\pdflatex.exe
