I finally solved the problem executing "ldconfig" as root.
I usually do not need to do so when I update gretl from CVS, so
I don't know why this time I needed it, .... but it is because I really don't
understand well how "ldconfig" and the file ld.so.conf work.
(The "errs" file didn't show any error, only some warnings)
