Three questions regarding plots in Gretl:
1) Is it possible to do a *scatter plot* of two variables, *with*
attached *marginal histograms* next to the corresponding axes, like
the picture attached? It would be great if it was possible!
No. But gnuplot supports the fairly closely related "rug plot" -- see
http://gnuplot.sourceforge.net/demo/rugplot.html -- and we could add
that to our repertoire without much difficuly.
2) How can we get a *density histogram* without having to have the
normal distribution included in the plot. By now, the only way we
can get a density histogram (not frequency) is to select to tested
against the normal.
Try "Estimated density plot" under the Variable menu in the gretl main
window.
3) Observation markers can be easily added to a single, or to all,
observations in a X-Y scatter plot, but I do not see how to do the
same with X-Y with control.
That's not enabled at present but it could be -- not too difficult, I
think.
For future reference this sort of question is more suitable for the
gretl-users list than for gretl-devel.
