can only speculate, but why should anybody really want that?
I agree.
I would be perfectly happy with something simple such as what we have
for adding lines using GUI. The whole thing is about helping (and not
annoying) newcomers and casual users. More than 80 percent of the
econometrics students will not become econometricians (some of them
will not even become economists). Also there are applied people in the
government who need to do things a bit more complex than with Excel
but do not ever want to write scripts (all they want is to finish
things and get out at 6pm). Why should we ask these people to "bite
the bullet" especially when many other things in gretl are so newcomer
friendly?
