That's no doubt the wise course, but your message arrived just after I
moved the "/Files/Function files" item to "/Tools/Function packages"
and
committed the change (along with updating the translations).
I could revert that change, but my feeling is that now the placement of
this menu item has been drawn to our attention it's pretty much a
no-brainer that it should be under Tools. (I'm against a new top-level
menu tree, as in Tim's second suggestion.)
Any further thoughts on this? (I won't push out a release just yet.)
I agree, this is so much better than it was before. It basically goes with
all other applications (eg browsers), in which adding some extra
functionality is something that you do in the menu area where you set
things up.
Perhaps someone could go through the documentation (ie, the Command
Reference and the User's Guide) and find all the places where the Function
menu was advertised, so we can change that. That's a time consuming task
that anyone could do, and would free some time for Allin and myself.
Also, the change will have to be displayed as conspicuously as possible
in the Changelog, in the announcement etc.
