As I said, personally I would want to avoid the administrative overhead.
We/you would be responsible to keep the platform running and also to fix
security issues. But maybe that's just me.
What about setting up a stackexchange "comunity"? There are already
some quite specific ones, such as TeX/LaTeX, Mathematica, Wordpress,
Tor...
