I agree this should be solved before release, especially so given
the growing popularity of the Mac platform. Macs used to be a
rarity; nowadays, in my experience, 1 in 8 students (approx.) has
a Mac.
Yes. Here at Wake Forest students are issued with ThinkPads (they
pay for them automatically), yet even so a substantial and growing
minority use Macbooks.
While we're on the topic, one odd and annoying thing I've noticed:
on the Mac, I find that if I estimate a model using the GUI, the
model window appears (or rather, doesn't appear) underneath the
gretl main window. It looks as if estimation has silently failed,
but if you move the main window, there's the model window behind it.
I don't think this has anything to do with the gretl code, I'm
pretty sure it must be a GTK or Mac X11 bug, but I'm trying various
workarounds to see if I can make the model window come out on
top.
