Following up the first reference in the .po file, to
genfuncs.c:1281, we find:
sprintf(VARLABEL(pdinfo, dnum),
_("%s = 1 if %s is %d, 0 otherwise"), vname,
_("period"), vi);
Ok so I think I got it right. Anyway, sorry for not looking at the
source myself, but the automatic lookup somehow never worked for me with
the tools I was using. (Now I use poedit because it's cross-platform,
and I didn't like gtranslator which caused problems for me. Don't
remember if anything was wrong with KBabel)

I can't find that.
Well it has disappeared after the latest de.po update and recompile, so
I guess I mixed something up.
But there is an encoding issue with de.po now, I'll send another email
because it warrants its own thread to be noticed.
thanks,
