Funny I have just installed Mint 12 (KDE edition) and saw your message
after checking my emails for the first time. As I am writing this I am
installing texlive, kile, virtualbox and krusader.
Thanks very much for your tips for building gretl on the new system.
Cheers

A little OT, but still: I had become a little disappointed with ubuntu for a
variety of reasons, so last night I wiped ubuntu off the hard disk of my
laptop and I replaced it with Mint Linux (Debian Edition). So far, I'm
absolutely loving it. Also,
apt-get build-dep gretl
worked just fine at installing all the needed machinery for building gretl
(apart from the fact that for building the pdf docs you also need
texlive-latex-recommended and texlive-latex-extra). Heartily recommended.
