Well, I'm not sure I'd say that gretl is contradicting you. I guess
the full title of this menu item ought to be "Specify and estimate a
model" but it has to be abbreviated: should the abbreviation indicate
the process (specification + estimation), the tool (estimator) or the
end result (an estimated model)? The proverbial "reasonable people"
may differ on this.
