Since "nobody" reads these except perhaps ex post, here's a new idea:
Why not include the release notes under the help menu? The idea would be
that gretl users with some experience stumble over a change ("where are
all my function packages, I cannot find them under the File menu"),
select release notes from the help menu, and get the hint ("in this
release we moved the function packages to the tools menu"). This would
all be self-contained without the need for an internet connection etc.
I like this.
In fact, displaying the Changelog under the "Help" menu would be very
nice.
Funny that all sorts of good ideas about the GUI are popping up like mad
at such a short time before release. But better before than after!
