I don't think that the list of previously selected working directories
is referenced in the process of trying to get a usable working directory
at start-up. But the code path is quite complex so feel free to give an
example if you reckon this is happening.
[BTW, it would be nice if the width of the workdir-chooser dialog could
be adjustable, because the path almost never fits in those drop-down
list displays.]
Yes it must be something more subtle, right know I cannot produce a
minimal example.
