Hello Da, I also want to comment on that MS issue. I have been using libgretl for my purposes. I have already developed some codes with using libgretl and i can say that it is not hard on ubuntu. When it comes to IDE issue, i am using eclipse and very comfortable with it. I can try to help you if you want.
