Well, of course this is not good news. But on the other hand, I have the
feeling that we, as the gretl community, may not be ready yet for
something like the GSoC. Development has always been mainly on Allin's
shoulders, and lately I haven't been able to provide even the little
help I gave in the past.
Andreas' work on building gretl on a Win32 system is of enormous
importance, since it removes a huge block towards enlarging the pool of C
coders. I'll feel much more confident in applying for the GSoC when we
have a solid base of at least 4/5 stable contributors.
I don't mean to be negative. Talha spent quite a lot of energy and
dedication on this, and I am deeply thankful to him. All I'm saying is,
everybody in the community is doing a very fine job (with the testing, the
bug reports, the translations etcetera), but perhaps we still have some
way to go.
