I may be missing your point, but... what keeps you from saying "Please
open the notes" when you distribute the file?
As a rule, I find software of the "I know what's best for you; here, let
me do it" kind quite irksome. A PC is not a TV set; not everything is
supposet to happen automagically in front of your amazed eyes.
