Yes, but I wonder why it is so "complicated" when in the CLI only with
"open
file.dat" all runs smoothly. It seems there is some asymetry between the GUI
and the CLI in opening files.
Fair point. I think the GUI menu set-up dates back to a time when we
weren't so clever at detecting data file types and acting accordingly.
Maybe we should simplify it.
