A huge incentive for people to submit papers to conferences is that
they
have a better chance to get published in a decent journal, or at least
end up in a "proceedings" volume. Ignacio had this set up for the Bilbao
Conference, I remember. Can we do anything similar? I'm pretty sure this
would boost participation.
The journal stuff seems utopian to me, at least for this coming
conference (less than half a year away).
Proceedings are nice, yes. Whether this really is such a huge incentive
I don't know -- as you remember I was too lazy to put something like
that together for the last conference, so I don't have any experience there.
