Yes, "xterm -e R" is the factory default for interactive use of R
via gretl. Nowadays every Linux desktop variant seems to have its
own preferred terminal program but xterm is, so to speak,
"non-denominational". (It also happens to be my personal favourite
but that's not the point.)
As you say, easy enough to change it.
