Actually, this description wasn't quite correct: The workdir of the
preferences didn't exist anymore (that part was correct), however then
gretl didn't create that path/dir, but created and/or used the path/dir
of the workdir that had been _previously_ active.
Hope this explanation was understandable. Now it really looks like a bug
to me. (Snapshot from Nov 22nd.)
