Ahem, that's not really true: "Blank lines are ignored, as are lines
beginning with the hash mark (#), which can be used to insert comments.

But I take that to mean that only complete lines can be used for
commenting, no trailing comments, which is fine. And that did work for
me alright.
OK, you're right. The doc states that "pure" comment lines, starting
with "#", are handled. Implicitly, with anything else you're on your
own, might or might not work.
