The behavior of opening the sample script in response to "Execute" when
a package requires data that are not in place is relatively new; we used
to present the message you mention. Perhaps we should present a dialog
that contains that message but offers the option of opening the sample
script?
Personally I think that would be good, yes.
As for packages that don't have a data requirement -- or whose data
requirement is met -- "Execute" does open the package's execution
interface, not the sample script.
Hm, this morning instead of the execution interface I got a choice
dialog asking me whether I want to call a function or see a sample script...
