What do you think about a key command help option in the help
pull-down? Most are obvious for veteran users, but new adopters
might not be so well informed (me as an example).
Good idea. The key-commands are set out in the manual (well, most of
them!) but it would be handy to have an easily visible online
listing.
What do you think about separating the main window from the list of
variables? I'd rather that the main window contain the output script or
GUI and the variable list could be a separate window? The main window is
large and hardly ever changes in any informational way.....
The current dataset is the "anchor" of a gretl session and I think
the main window has to be oriented to the dataset. Quite different
designs are no doubt possible but I'll leave that to someone else.
The gretl GUI comprises about 100,000 lines of code, most of which
is highly interrelated. Radical changes are likely to be very
expensive and introduce loads of bugs.
