I've now made this a bit less scary and more functional.
If you select the PDF help option you now get a file dialog to
select the PDF file. If you cancel out of that, the plain-text help
stays in place. And even if you go ahead with a PDF file, the plain
text help is kept in memory until you exit the package editor. So
you can revert to plain text help with no loss -- until you commit
the change by saving the gfn and exiting.
And of course you can copy the content of the plain-text help window
to another file, giving you the option of reverting later on.
