will always give you a constant series, regardless of how z came into
existence. Think about it!
Of course you're right, and I have even taught this trick in courses myself!
I was confused because for some parameter constellations everything
worked fine, but it turns out that those constellations imply z = z(0),
so the problem cannot appear...
So the bug is entirely on my side.
