You may have noticed that I've added a guide chapter specifically on gretl's TeX functionality. In the course of writing this up, I've come to wonder: Do you think we ought to make pdflatex + PDF viewer the default for viewing TeX output on Linux as well as Windows and OS X? Pro: while DVI is traditional on X11, for novice users it's more user-friendly to have a preview that's directly printable. And it'll simplify the documentation some if the default is the same on all platforms. Con: latex + xdvi generally gives a faster preview (though actually xpdf is pretty fast -- not sure about gpdf or kpdf, or whatever is used for PDF on KDE). Allin.
