If you create a new series by GUI means (in the console, via "/Add/Define
new variable", or via the "g" shortcut for the latter) then the dataset
is
marked as modified and you get the save prompt on closing. But if the
series is generated by running a script these thngs are not activated.
This is on reasoning that if you add series via script your changes are in
effect "already saved", in the form of the script itself: run the script
again and you'll get your augmented dataset back. Another aspect of this
is the assumption that if the user intended to create and save an
augmented dataset using a script, then the script would include the
"store" command.
Right, actually now I remember that we had very similar discussions some
time ago...
