Dear developers,
Why don't we have icons for Gretl files (.gretl, .gdt, .inp, etc.) in Mac OS
X? I would like to see these beautiful icons here in my computer :)

Hmm, I've never figured out how to create the relevant file-type
associations on OS X. If anyone can give me guidance I'll try.
This is one thing that's very easy on Windows (thanks to the Inno
installer -- just stick a few registry keys in the installation
script.)

BTW, would you mind changing the colour of the .inp icons, in order to

OK, I've now tried a bit harder, and I think we have the gretl
file icons working on OS X. At least, they're working on OS X
10.4.11 with the current gretl snapshot.

From the perspective of someone who uses icons rarely (I'm a shell
diehard), I reckon the could be an issue of backward compatibility. It's
not unlikely that at least some of the users think in terms of "blue icon
does so-and-so".
And by the way, I'm not quite sure the session file is what people click
on most often. But it's just a shot in the dark, I don't really know.

keep the original color for the file type in which users are on
average most "invested". Any more votes on this?

I guess script files are more important, if you have a script that's because
you plan to use that code on more than a single dataset, which is associated
with one session file. So you're more likely to be fishing for a script than
for a session file, right? Normally you should have more .gretl than .inp
files, so I'd give the red (most noticeable colour) to .inp files.
ps: Sorry for the lack of responses on the issues I brought up, I'll check
on them soon.

I would give the blue to .gretl files and red to .inp just like Patricio
