Hi,
for some reason we didn't talk at the conference about the possibility
of using Twitter to spread information about gretl, in parallel to other
channels.
Suppose I were to open a quasi-"official" twitter account for gretl,
what would be your arguments against it? The tweets would contain mainly
links to news about gretl I guess (features, tutorials, conferences,
packages, etc.).
Not going to happen in the next days (weeks?) though...

Thanks for the pointer Artur. Has some interesting tweets / retweets
indeed. My idea for a Gretl-News account would be more focussed on
what's new in Gretl though. (Including new Gretl documentation /
tutorials etc.)

I think it is a great idea to have an official facebook and twitter
account which are also linked on the gretl homepage. I guess, managing
those accounts shouldn't be too time-consuming in case some news are
posted from time to time...
Btw, is this now the official and revived facebook group: "GRETL-Gnu
Regression, Econometrics and Time-series Library" ?

has fallen asleep. Any news on this?
Btw, as I said, I guess it's not too time consuming to write some tweets
about gretl updates, newly available or updated user-written functions
or other gretl-related stuff. I could be the or one of the maintainer(s)
of the account if there is interest.

just didn't have the time so far.
I see that you already announced some recent function package updates,
which is exactly what I think this twitter channel should do. Please
speak up if you need any more direct alerts about new packages. (Perhaps
you could be cc-ed when the package management system sends out
automatic messages to the package moderators, or something like that.)
But maybe you're already up-to-date on the events anyway.

I think putting me cc if a new package is accepted or updated would be a
good idea.

Well, I don't have anything against that handle (gretl_stats). But if we
wanted to change it, I guess it would have to be now, before we're
locked in. So let me raise the question whether we should communicate
our focus on econometrics -- although I know it's hard or impossible to
clearly distinguish statistics and econometrics.
So do we want to have something like "gretl_metrics" perhaps?

So it seems that people don't have any preferences regarding the naming
of the channel :-)
To me "gretl_metrics" sounds totally fine -- even though the connection
to "ox_metrics" seems obvious. However, this may be a good aspect though!

That wasn't what I had in mind -- I rather thought that "metrics" is a
common slang abbreviation for econometrics among (American?) grad
students. Anyway, it's probably not important, I guess we just leave it
as is.
