Hi,
the following isn't new, and maybe we discussed it already:
<hansl>
function void checkl(list L)
L -= const time
list L print
end function
list myL = time
checkl(myL) # still shows time
</hansl>
Note that outside of a function it works.

I don't recall discussing this before (though maybe we did). Anyway,
it's wrong behaviour and I'll look into it.

Thanks! We will still keep the workaround in SVAR for a while to avoid
requiring 2019b I guess.
You could use
L -= const L.time
and it would work in earlier gretl.

Now there's a crash; probably not really related, but it happened when I
was running the original script of this thread: I had another
long-running simulation script active --if I had known how long it would
run I would have started it in another instance-- when I tried to
execute this small test script from the script editor. I got a warning
window saying "another script running!?" or something like that. Then I
think I tried to close this warning window, which made gretl crash
(closed by the OS/Windows 7). Or maybe it already crashed before I could
actually try to close the window, I'm not sure.

OK, it's easy to imagine how that would lead to a crash. It's now
blocked in git: other than nested scripts, you can't run a script
when there's already one running.

Ah, but it only works if time is actually present in L, so L.time
exists. Otherwise more complicated workarounds are needed.
We already have a workaround in SVAR, and the bug itself is fixed, so we
just have to wait.
